Pioneering Hospitality Education as an Apple Distinguished School

Swiss Hotel Management School is proud to be recognised as an Apple Distinguished School for 2017-2019

As Generation Z joins our student body, we are adapting our teaching methods to offer our students the best learning experience possible. Our focus is to ensure time on campus is optimised, engaged and effective, both in and outside of the classroom. Technology in education is playing a more important role than ever before and as a newly-appointed Apple Distinguished School, lecturers and students alike are benefitting from this evolution.

While each one of our students is given an iPad at the start of their studies, integrating technology goes far beyond the classroom. Discover how we have turned Swiss Hospitality education upside down for our students!

Both of our campuses (Leysin and Caux) are housed in former palace hotels dating back to the early 20th-century. Blending 21st-century technology seamlessly into this environment is not without its challenges, but it does offer students a unique and almost-magical experience in the Swiss Alps. Swiss Hotel Management School Academic Director Leysin Campus, Mr Stephan Earnhart, explains more about the shift from lecture-based learning to student-based learning:

The Ed-tech initiative at Swiss Hotel Management School has allowed us to revolutionise the teaching and learning experience for our students and faculty. In 2014 we integrated technology into teaching, learning and assessments across our schools. Providing opportunities for faculty to experiment in safe environments allowed them to quickly adapt and become more comfortable using technology in the classrooms.
