At the Swiss Hotel Management School, well-qualified hospitality experts teach students the finesse of international hotel and hospitality management. Students follow an exciting curriculum comprising of academic and practical elements, expertise and languages. During the first two years of study at the hospitality school students complete paid internships to gain real-life practical experience. Upon graduation students have achieved up to two internationally recognized qualifications from Switzerland and Great Britain.

Stephan Earnhart: Academic Director, Leysin Campus

As academic director since 2006, Stephan Earnhart is passionate about developing the next generations of hospitality leaders by teaching them how to master the Swiss Hospitality Touch. With over 25 years of experience in the hospitality and tourism industry, he was educated in hospitality management at Cornell University and Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne and holds a Bachelor degree from Portland State University (Oregon) and a Master of Business Administration in Hospitality Management.

Mr Earnhart has worked as a hospitality leader and consultant with such prestigious clients as Swiss Deluxe Hotels, Walt Disney World, Four Seasons Hotels and Preferred Hotels & Resorts, Hilton, Marriott and The Ritz-Carlton.

Jeroen Greven: Academic Dean, Caux Campus

With international experience in the hospitality industry on managerial and leadership level, Mr Greven joined the Swiss Hotel Management School in 2010 to pursue his career in hospitality education. Due to his passion and drive developing the leading hoteliers of the future, Mr Greven was appointed Academic Dean of the Caux campus of the Swiss Hotel Management School in 2013. Ideologically Mr Greven strives for the employability of SHMS students and believes that through strong industry relations the Swiss Hotel Management School can provide students with a significant competitive advantage upon commencing their careers.

Among various university qualifications, Mr Greven holds a Master’s degree with distinction in International Hospitality Management from the University of Derby (UK).

Kai Janotta: Director of Operations, Caux Campus 

Kai Janotta: Director of Operations, Caux Campus

Kai Janotta comes from Germany where he studied economics and trained as a mechatronic technician. After joining the Swiss Hotel Management School in 2003, he obtained his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Hospitality Management in 2008. As director of operations, Mr Janotta is responsible amongst other things for up to 530 students' welfare and discipline, as well as supervising the security of the students, staff and facilities. In his role, he is responsible for the overall operations in Caux, including all CSS outlets. He organises school events as International Day and assists with the planning and organisation of special Swiss Education Group events.


Virgilio Santos: Director of Operations, Leysin Campus

With over 20 years of operations management experience in the hospitality industry, Virgilio Santos joined the team at the Swiss Hotel Management School in 2012. He brings with him an operations management background that is Swiss made, starting from Wengen and further developed across Europe and Asia. With a focus on strategic and practical solutions, Mr Santos has shepherded operations in food and beverage, hotels and resorts, both small and large.

Holding a Postgraduate Degree in Hotel Management from the Escola de Hotelaria e Turismo de Faro (EHTA) in Portugal, his enduring strengths lie in inspiring and leading people to greater performance.
