Forbes recently released the next list of their annual 50 Best rankings, and we are pleased to see that this year, the acclaimed business magazine chose to spotlight The World’s 50 Best Hotels in 2023! Swiss Hotel Management School (SHMS) has long been proud of our industry connections with esteemed hotels and properties around the world, including with those mentioned here. The recognition is well-deserved and so important for spotlighting today’s tourism and hospitality industry. We would like to congratulate all of these amazing properties and the hard-working teams behind them for making it onto the list!

Though SHMS enjoys partnerships with several of these hotel groups, we also share personal connections with some of these properties; many of our faculty, alumni, and students have worked or interned at these hotels. We have selected some of their thoughts and stories to share about the rankings and their time working in the industry.

To Rosewood Hong Kong:

“We at Swiss Education Group (SEG) are delighted to see Rosewood Hong Kong in second place - it’s a property we know our students love as they provide wonderful internship and management training opportunities, with around 35 students across our four schools having interned here in the last two years. We enjoy working with them greatly and send a big congratulations to the team!”

- Antonia Vollet, SEG Employer Relations Director

To One&Only Mandarina Puerto Vallarta and Atlantis The Royal, Dubai:

“Working for a brand such as One&Only and Kerzner international comes with a sense of pride being known amongst the best in the world, and seeing two of our sister resorts, One&Only Mandarina and Atlantis The Royal, make the Worlds 50 best list is an accomplishment that further cements this feeling. Having had the pleasure of staying at the newly opened Atlantis The Royal in May of this year, it is easy to understand why it entered the list at 44 a mere 6 months into being open.”

- Lucy Waalkens, IHTTI Alumna; PR and Communications Manager for One&Only Resorts

To Claridge’s, London:

"While I worked at Claridge's in London, we welcomed the likes of Paris Hilton, Madonna, and Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie for an amazing afternoon tea. It's a beautiful property with amazing staff members working at the front and back of the house, and I congratulate them on making the Forbes 50 Best Hotels list!"

- Nina Fleurie, SHMS Lecturer

To Raffles Hotel Singapore:

“It’s absolutely an honor for Raffles Hotel to be listed as one of the 50 best hotels in the world by Forbes. I feel lucky to be a part of the journey of Raffles Hotel, curating the ultra luxury experience to be recognized as a world leading hotel. Raffles Hotel is where fame and people gather in Singapore. It’s where we accommodate world leading politicians, legendary celebrities or business tycoons. It’s not uncommon for me to bump into someone whom I often see on television here for a casual meal. There are always events happening, whether it's Bloomberg, the Shangri-La Dialogue, or a Formula-1 race, and we actively play a part of it. Throughout my experience with Raffles Hotel, I have learned the hard work and time put into making sure of a seamless experience for each guest, and I’ve seen many passionate hoteliers, whom I have the greatest pleasure of working with, taking pride in what they do. Raffles has earned its reputation of being a legendary hotel and continues to strive in creating world class experiences for our guests. I am really proud of what it has achieved and looking forward to being part of its exciting journey.”

- Mindy Chen, SHMS Alumna; Lobby Manager at Raffles Hotel Singapore

To Gleneagles, St. Andrews, Scotland:

“Working at Gleneagles taught me several things: one is the importance of the role of the client for a business such as Gleneagles, where its history and world-class reputation means everything. The job is much more interesting when you welcome back guests from all over the world, and you become a part of their visit experience to the hotel. Service history and knowing what your client likes and dislikes plays a big part of the philosophy in this famous hotel. Also, don’t underestimate the power of teamwork. In such a big property with an estate spread over a wide area, teamwork is massively important to communicate from department to department for the benefit of the guest. With all this in mind, it is no surprise that Gleneagles is included in this illustrious list.”

- Simon Thompson, SHMS Program Manager

To Hotel Du Cap-Eden-Roc, Antibes:

“I grew up on the French Riviera and Eden-Roc is an iconic place for everyone. Growing up, I had the chance to work as an event planner several times for the organization of celebrity weddings and for the prestigious AMFAR charity galas as part of the Cannes film festival. I even slept there! For me, this place is the definition of non-ostentatious ultra luxury, from the decoration to the welcome and in all the services offered. There is a real desire to put people at ease, to make them feel at home straight away and to create unique moments. Nothing is too much. Everything is fair, elegant, personalized and efficient. Eden Roc does not seek to impress; it seeks to welcome. I loved working with the Eden-Roc teams.”

- Claire Jollain, SHMS Assistant Dean

Swiss Hotel Management School wishes the best to all of our industry partners and look forward to our continued collaboration at the International Recruitment Forum and other ventures. We are proud of our esteemed alumni working with such distinguished hotels, and we are privileged to send our students to these prestigious properties for their internships and training.
