With the increasing level of globalization of service, one of the main areas facing the service sector has been how to manage culturally diverse workforce. Managing a multicultural workforce, either within a business unit or within a global corporation, can be a demanding task of managers. This module attempts to provide the student with an opportunity not only to understand cultural difference and how this impacts upon the service sectors, but also to critique relevant theories with applications into practice and to formulate an appropriate strategy to manage cultural diversity. Delivering Added Value
The hospitality and events product is complex and includes a high service component. A competent Hospitality and Events Manager will need to develop a holistic view of how the organization can create value for the customer using both tangible and intangible facets of the organization's offering. This module will examine the parameters of operations within a hospitality context, which have been managed in order to position the hospitality organization. It will examine in depth some of the more challenging management issues. Assessment: Poster 20%, Report 80%
Advanced Consumer Behavior
The rationale underpinning this module is that strategically led businesses in the current world economy need to understand consumers' motives, perceptions and decision making processes in order to creatively design and develop products that will be successful in the market place. Although the consumption process is covered in brief in previous modules, there is a need for advanced level analysis of consumer behavior to enable the graduate to gain a rounded appreciation of the critical issues governing consumption and the decision making process. This Professional Development – Contemporary Issues module is all about the person who will most influence your future career and progression – YOU. It is an individually centred module that will need the maximum degree of participation from you in an interactive fashion.
As a final year undergraduate you will face many challenges before you leave University of both a personal and academic basis – 80 per cent of your final degree classification will be gained in the last year of your academic studies while at the same time you will be preparing to enter the challenging and competitive world of work .You will need to face these challenges in a controlled and planned fashion to succeed on both the academic and professional fronts.

Strategic Approaches to Global Events
The exponential growth in number, scale and magnitude of events world-wide led to the development of events industry planning process based upon a process that was rooted in classical strategic management theory. These traditional developmental models are now being challenged and are leading to a paradigm shift in strategic thinking and, in the case of events management, are only now being written. There are fundamental differences within this market with, for example, success and/or failure often being based upon the part played by the media. This influence appears as a major external and internal environmental factor that reaches over the arches of any global strategy. This module will provide the tools to enable a critical appraisal of the complex issues surrounding the planning, coordinating and management of events within the global environment, which has the critical influence of access to information through 24-hour media networks. In essence events at this scale are media driven so strategies must also be media driven. Through global awareness national events become international events, so the glocalization becomes globalization. Assessment: Briefing Paper 100%
PR and E-Marketing for the Events Industry
In today's increasingly competitive marketing environment there has been a shift from traditional marketing techniques towards a more aggressive style of marketing. This trend is all too evident in the events industry as local, regional and national organizations recognize the multitude of benefits derived from the hosting of events, festivals and conferences. There is a need to look beyond the traditional approach to marketing and to instead identify a strategic alternative approach necessary for the events industry today. The need for a range of marketing techniques is paramount to the successful marketing of an event; this module aims to build on Level 5 knowledge of public relations, relationship marketing, guerrilla marketing and electronic marketing for the events industry. Independent Study
The independent study offers students the opportunity to develop their analytical and critical skills in an extended analysis of a service sector topic, selected by the student and supervised by a member of the teaching team. Assessment: Dissertation 100%
