SHMS's reputation for Hospitality Management training results from an education programme that gives students a profound understanding of all aspects of the hospitality industry.  SHMS programmes combine practical elements of Hotel Management with key management skills providing graduates with the best possible foundation for their future career.
At SHMS our goal is to ensure an international approach to education. Within a multi-cultural classroom atmosphere, students gain an international awareness of the industry and develop the ability to effectively communicate in the global hospitality environment.

English as the Official Language
English is the language of instruction at SHMS with students able to choose French, German or Spanish for additional language study.

English Foundation Programme
For students whose English ability is below the required entry level, a Foundation Programme is offered at the SEG Language Centre in Le Bouveret. Course duration is between 4 to 20 weeks.

Foreign Languages during your studies (French, German or Spanish)
Foreign languages are vital skills in the hospitality industry. SHMS offers a range of French, German and Spanish classes.

Teaching Materials
SHMS uses modern teaching materials to ensure that the content of every programme is "State-of-the-Art".

Transfer Agreements
SHMS credits are generally transferrable to other institutions of higher learning.

Internships
Years 1 and 2 of the main programme and the postgraduate programmes include a 4 to 6 month internship either in Switzerland or abroad. Internships offer a unique opportunity to enhance both the acquired practical and language skills which are highly sought after in the hospitality industry.

Internship Office
The SHMS Internship Office assists students in finding employment in a hotel or restaurant in Switzerland or abroad. The SHMS Internship Coordinator will visit students on internship where possible and is always available for any assistance required during the placement period.

Internship Salary
By law, Swiss employers are required to remunerate students at prevailing industry trainee rates. Gross salary per month: CHF 2168.- to CHF 2450.-. Students should count around CHF 1000.-  in deductions for food, accommodation, tax and insurance.

International internship salaries vary depending on the conditions in the selected country.
