SHMS Students win Innovation Challenge


Congratulations to the winners of the inaugural SEG Innovation and Research Excellence Award, Sephi Shieh Fang Ong and Sarah Kim Bee Ng from SHMS Leysin. The pair took out the competition which aims to promote the values of research and innovation to students. Teams from each SEG school presented their project to a panel of judges who evaluated their proposal based on the students research and feasibility study. The winning team’s proposal was based on the implementation of new technology in an new in-room dry-cleaning system. 

Mr Jeroen Greven, programme manager for BA and MA studies in Leysin, was particularly impressed by the quality of the submissions and he says that the programme follows the demands from the hospitality industry for graduates who are able to be provide innovative ideas based on a solid understanding of customer needs. In today’s competitive climate, businesses are trying to differentiate themselves from their competitors by offering added value through innovation. The SEG Innovation and Research Excellence Award is just one of the ways that SHMS maintains its position as a world leader in hospitality education.
