My decision to choose the hospitality industry came from a combination of my love of people and my desire to travel the world. I also saw that this was an ever-expanding industry with a lack of qualified people.Following graduation, I have worked for the Sheraton Karachi Hotel and Towers and the Raddison Blu Hotel, Riyadh. I am really proud of my career progression since graduation where I have risen from management trainee to sales and marketing coordinator, sales executive and now sales manager in just 3 years.
SHMS has helped me immensely in my career success as it was there that I learned the value of hard work. I was given quality exposure to the industry and my horizons were really broadened.
I would advise anyone joining the hospitality industry to be patient as the industry requires that everyone starts from the bottom. In other words, people should not expect to be hired as managers the moment they graduate, even if it is from a world-renowned school. You need to learn the practical tricks of the trade and grow from there gradually. Don’t forget that Hard Work Pays!
