Abel Benmoussa

"After working in the industry for several years, I knew that I enjoyed working with people but realized that it would be hard for me to be successful without further studies. So, I chose to go to SHMS and study hospitality.

At SHMS I learned to respect others, never to judge people based on their race or religion and most importantly to be hard-working. All of these skills have helped me to get where I am today.

Since graduating from SHMS, I have been lucky to be involved in the pre-opening of four properties in the USA and Thailand. From pre-opening I became, Management Trainee for Room division and Food and Beverage Department at the Hotel Setai in Miami, the Hotel Manager of the Antara Lawana Resort and Spa in Thailand and the General Manager of the Adelphi Suites in Bankok, Thailand. It was through these roles that I have reached my career highlight which is the realization of my ability to have an impact on an organizations success. In 2010, I took on a new challenge as the General Manager of the Amari Residences Sukhumvit in Bangkok, Thailand.

I believe that hospitality is all about passion and care. You need to feel the needs of the customer before they even know what they need. Your instinct should tell you where you should act, before it becomes evident to others. There is a saying I love which really represents this for me; An old bellman once said, “You got it in you, or you don’t got it in you…. But always do it with love, lots of it.”

My professional philosophy is based on these wise words and can be summed up by; Passion, Respect and Achievement."
